The Ink

Photograph source: Jan Wayne Fields

“Ah! The ink has again dried up!”
She stretched out to open the top drawer. It was empty.
“Where did I keep it?”
She stood up and frantically started looking in the smaller drawers. Empty. Her panic turned into a nervous wreck. She looked inside the chambers. Nothing! She threw the book kept on top of the table. Along with it, crashed the photo-frame as well. That’s when she saw the knife.
“Oh! There you are! How could I forget?! Damn me!”
Then, she took the knife, sliced her wrist and filled up her ink pot.

  1. This was a pretty smart story - a great twist. I didn't understand 'the book kept' but it didn't detract from the story.

  11. Ankush, My first comment seems to have disappeared, so here's a second one. I'd comment that that was really creepy, except I wrote about writing in blood also. I hope she eats a lot of iron-rich foods. No need to run to the stationary store there. Well written and creative. : ) ---Susan

  12. Dear Ankush, Excellent story but creepy - if she writes too much, she will have to slice her wrist again and again and again until there is none left. Oh well, Good story! Nan :)
