“Yes. I love them too!”
“I always wonder where does their fire come from…”
“I think they burn up the food that they eat.”
“But, how do they light it up?”
“I don’t know. Maybe with a matchstick, maybe a Zippo..”
“Or maybe they jump into a fire!”
“Yes. Maybe. Did you eat well?”
“Yes, I did.”
Saying this, the two moths smiled at each other and jumped into the fire.

ReplyDeleteAh, so that's why they do it. It's a quest for beauty.

This was such an interesting read --- the dialogue fascinating and the characters - what a surprise! Loved it! Definitely one of the more original responses to the prompt this time around :)

Randy
very cleverly done..did not expect the end :-)
ReplyDeleteAnkush, Good dialogue. That was a fatal misunderstanding. It always is with moths. Well written. : ) ---Susan
ReplyDeleteVery clever! I love it! I will have the picture in my head the whole day! ;-) Helen
ReplyDeleteNice. I imagine that fireflies would have quite a fan club among the moths :) They'd probably be like the One Direction of the insect world, though doubtless with better songs.
ReplyDeleteNicely done - an attraction like a moth to a flame.
ReplyDeleteOuch. Moths wanting to be like fireflies. One should be happy with who they are.
ReplyDeleteThen again, they could be alien moths who are energized by fire and will therefore survive the blaze.
I'm a romantic at heart. ;0)
Nicely done.
