Ye Jahan

ऊंची ऊंची मिनारातें,
नोंच रही हैं ये आसमाँ,
ये जगमगाती इमारतें,
काट रही हैं ये समां।।

पेड़ों के पैरोँ में,
बाँध दी हैं ज़ंज़ीरें काली-काली,
चिड़ियाओं के मिलन के लिए,
लगा दी हैं बिजली की तारें कई सारी।।

इंसान भी खुद ही उलझ गया है,
आपने हे सड़कों के जंजाल में,
फिर भी मांग रहा है,
जीवन इसी हाल में।।

Oonchi-oonchi minaratein,
noch rahi hain ye asamaa,
ye jagmagaati imaratein,
kaat rahi hain ye sama.

Paedon ke pairon main,
baandh di hain zanzeerein kaali kaali,
chidiyaon ke milan ke liye,
laga di hain bijli ki taarein kayi saari.

Insaan bhi khud he ulajh gaya hai,
apne he sadakon ke janjaal main,
phir bhi maang raha hai,
jeewan isi haal main.

English Translation:

Taller and taller highrises,
Are shredding the sky,
Brightly-lighted homes,
Are killing the weather that goes by.

Trees are adorned with,
Black anklets on the ground,
Birds have a new mating place,
Electric poles all around.

People have got lost,
In their own intertwining roads,
Even then they are asking for,
Life with this load.
